Minimum Requirements:

Associate degree in Health Information Technology

3 of the most 5 years’ experience performing coding duties in an acute care facility

Considerable knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD10-CM and CPT coding conventions, and CMS coding requirements

Proficient in word processing and PC based spreadsheet program

Licensure, Registration, Certification:

Credentialed through American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in one of the following:

• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

Desired Licensure, Registration, Certification:

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) in addition to RHIT or RHIA

Supervises and assists in the daily activities of Infirmary Health’s coding service line to provide timely and accurate coding and transcription of patient medical records according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and IH policies and procedures.
